While wandering through the countryside of Siena Italy, I came upon this cute gentleman. If I could only speak the language I would have asked him his name…next time.

a gentle soul

I came upon this friendly gentleman during my jaunt through Siena, Italy. He was sitting there on the wall and I could not help but to stare as he stared back. The look on his face was genuine and kind. He spoke to me in Italian. I smiled not knowing what he had said, but wishing I did. He pointed to my camera and I asked to take his picture. He being camera shy placed his hand over his face and kept peeping through his fingers. I sensed he did not want his face shown, so I respected his wishes, and took the picture as this. For the many who do not know me, Italy is home to me in my heart, mind,soul and roots. It is where my great-grandparents are from. Both arrived in New York many years ago, met, fell in love, married and produced 10 children. I feel a warmth and compassion everytime the plane lands; “welcome home”.

My dream home along the walls of Lucca Italy

Beyond the wall that divides the hustle and bustle of traffic is this quaint medieval town surrounded by a walkable wall. With so many entrances and exits that lead to the wandering narrow streets of Lucca, it is hard to choose the right one. For me there were no wrong ones. No time schedule and camera in hand I simply wandered in awe. Quite a lovely stroll to embark on, endlessly.
